Industry Day Volunteers

Be part of one of our most exciting events of the year! Join our nominees and industry guests as you help deliver an unforgettable day of activities and experiences. From guided tours of professional soundstages to hands-on workshops with leading industry partners, this is a unique opportunity to see the screen sector in action. Past events have featured collaborations with the ABC and Screen Australia.
Award Ceremony Volunteers

Help bring our most glamorous night of the year to life! Our red carpet Award Ceremony is an unforgettable evening dedicated to finding, celebrating, and empowering Australia’s next Margot Robbies and Baz Luhrmanns. As a volunteer, you'll play a key role in creating a seamless and spectacular experience. It's a unique opportunity to be part of an inspiring night that shines a light on young creative talent from across the country.

We’re a not-for-profit initiative dedicated to finding, celebrating, and empowering the next generation of Australian filmmakers and creators. Open to young creatives aged 15-24, the festival provides a national platform for emerging talent to showcase their work, gain industry exposure, and access invaluable learning opportunities.
Each year, we run a 2-day core events program for young Aussies from across the country. This includes an Industry Day and an Award Ceremony.

Anyone aged 18 and above who is enthusiastic about film, events, youth arts, or gaining experience in the creative industries. No prior experience is required, though it can be beneficial and is preferred.

No. But ideally, you would have some level of interest in filmmaking, film, animation, and other relevant creative fields.

Volunteers are primarily needed for our:

Roles may include:
Event set-up and pack-down
Guest registration and check-in
Audience ushering
Venue support and crowd flow
Hospitality and green room management (including for judges and VIP attendees)
Media support (e.g. photography, video, social media content)
Survey and feedback collection
Technical and AV assistance (if experienced)

Yes. You may indicate your preferred areas when applying. Final assignments will be based on event needs and your experience and skillset.

Yes. Volunteers will receive an orientation and role-specific training prior to the event to ensure they are comfortable and prepared.

Dates and venues vary each year, with events typically held in major Australian cities. Please see our website’s Industry Day and Award Ceremony pages or follow our social media channels for the most up-to-date information.

Depends. While we are open to volunteers based outside of our annual host city, we are unfortunately unable to cover travel or accommodation costs for volunteers (unless otherwise agreed). We encourage those based locally or able to arrange their own travel to apply.

It depends. Time commitment requirements vary depending on your type of role. For example, our Industry Day is usually a full day time commitment, whereas our Award Ceremony is an evening event only. Shift lengths and exact call times will be communicated in advance.

Yes. Catering is provided for volunteers working longer shifts. Shorter shifts may include snacks and refreshments.

Yes. All volunteers will receive a certificate of participation, and those who request it can receive a written reference after the Festival.

Yes. Volunteering gives you behind-the-scenes access to both the Industry Day and Award Ceremony, putting you in contact with filmmakers, industry professionals, and creatives from across Australia.
