Australia Youth Film Festival For Schools is a free-to-enter creative storytelling and screen program for students in Years 9–12.
Through competition, industry experiences, recognition and further-development pathways, the program helps young creators take their work beyond the classroom - while giving partner schools meaningful opportunities to support student creativity, strengthen industry connections and showcase their commitment to emerging talent.

Young people are producing more creative content than ever, but access to recognition, professional networks, industry experiences and public platforms remains uneven. Strong student work can often remain within the classroom or school community, while students interested in screen, media and creative careers may have limited opportunities to understand how their skills can translate into further education or employment pathways.
Australia Youth Film Festival For Schools is designed to help close that gap.
In 2026, 48% of Australia Youth Film Festival entrants were high-school students, demonstrating substantial existing demand from secondary-school creators. Yet high-school students represented only 14% of Festival finalists, highlighting an opportunity to provide younger creators with more dedicated development and recognition.
