Do Bears Dream in Hibernation?
From Oscar Li
After a dream where a talking bear tells her she has one more day to live, Katrina sets out to find a sense of meaning in the time she has left, all while the world around her hardly notices she is even there.
Hi, my name is Oscar and I am a young screenwriter and director based in Melbourne. I have recently graduated from a Bachelor of Communications at RMIT, and am looking forward to furthering my experience within the Australian film and television industry. I have wanted to make movies since I was a twelve year old kid handwriting poorly spelt scripts during class. Storytelling is a foundational pillar of our society, and I am grateful every day that I have the privilege to partake in part of that history through the screen.
What inspired you and your work?
My film was inspired by my time as a university student, trying to find my place in the world. I've always felt pressure to achieve so much in so little time, and I hope my film can be a reminder for people who feel the same way that you are enough just being who you are. Visually, much of the composition and colours are heavily inspired from Sofia Coppola films like Lost in Translation.
